Private Paying
You have the option to pay privately for your child's speech pathology services.
Medicare Rebates with GP Plan
If you receive a plan from your child's GP, you will be able to claim up to 5 Medicare Rebates for speech pathology appointments per calendar year. These rebates are around $60 per session. If your child is Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, they may be eligible for a further 5 sessions per calendar year.
You will need to pay for your child's appointment in full, and then Talking Tots Speech Pathology will process your Medicare rebate automatically on your behalf.
Private Health Insurance Rebates
Speech pathology is sometimes included in private health insurance policies. If you would like to check, call your insurer and enquire about the following codes:

- Therapy code 340
NDIS
Talking Tots Speech Pathology are able to see NDIS participants who self-manage their plans, or have a plan manager. You can expect NDIS services to be similarly priced to the services listed below, however there are some small variations to ensure compliance with NDIS legislation and invoicing requirements. NDIS services are invoiced as units of $193.98/hour.

Your child's initial assessment appointment will take approximately 60 minutes. If more time is required, an additional 30 or 45 minute appointment will be offered at the normal therapy rate (below).

Mobile fees are higher to cover the non face-to-face time taken in delivering a mobile service. For example, longer duration preparing for the session, signing into centres/schools, speaking with your child's educators, more detailed clinical notes, communicating home practice with families, etc.
Therapy Services
Travel fees are calculated from the speech pathologist's location, to your child's location. If there are a number of mobile sessions in a local area, the travel fee is shared equally amongst clients, or removed altogether. All travel fees are calculated and discussed with families prior to travel commencing. Travel fees are calculated at the NDIS travel rate of $97/hour.

Early Intervention Funding - NDIS Referral
If you think your child requires regular early intervention supports for their communication or social delays, you are able to self-refer your child to Lifestart - you don't need an assessment first! Once discussing your concerns with Lifestart, they are able to link you in with local services, or support your child's application to the NDIS under the Early Childhood Approach if that is the correct pathway. It can be a lengthy process from initially filling out the referral to receiving a plan, so the earlier the better.
